Elena is multidisciplinary artist whose practice includes scenography and costume design, painting and teaching. She has worked with dozens theatre performances as costume and stage designer in Canada, Russia , France and Latvia. In her work, she builds on her connection with European culture, creative skills and the knowledge of historical styles, various techniques and technologies,  uses classical and contemporary materials for various concepts.
Elena Miroshnichenko was born in Moscow . Growing up in a cultural metropolis, the daughter of a theatre critic and a journal editor, she was exposed to many facets of Russian cultural life. From early childhood she was fascinated by the look , feel and smell of artist’s materials, and she always knew that her place in this world will be related to theatre. During her years of study at the A. Tchekhov Moscow Arts Theatre School (MHAT) she would go to Bolshoi Theatre and observe from the inside how the 'big theatre machine' works. After completing her Master’s degree in stage and costume design, she was invited by the Goethe-Institut to do an internship in stage design at the Bochum Theatre, Germany. Around the same time she started working  for A.T.E. Theatre, Clichy/Paris . Afterwards there was numerous works in different  theatres .
Elena presently lives in Montreal ,Canada where she combines work in theatre and dance related projects  with painting  and teaching.
